Minimally Invasive Implants
Dental implants have revolutionized dentistry, and they are a wonderful alternative to bridges. If a tooth is missing, we can now replace that tooth without having to drill the teeth next to it. Implants allow for each individual tooth to carry its own weight, making it so that one tooth does not compromise the neighboring teeth.
Although the first ever implants were made of wood or ivory, and they date back to prehistoric ages, the modern dental implants have been widely used since the 1970s.
There have been even more improvements on them since then. Short, mini, and narrow implants have been used for the past two decades. Research and extensive studies have proved that mini implants are just as durable and strong. Larger does not equal more support for the crown on top. In fact, mini dental implants have many benefits, including:
- They are less expensive, as they are smaller.
- The smaller the implant, the less invasive the surgery, leading to less healing time and an easier procedure for the patient.
- There is much less need for sinus lifts or substantial bone grafting with mini implants.
